 Introduction: this program has been designed for the avid Birdwatcher who has done various tours and now wants an itinerary directed to an specific
type of bird.
This trip is great for the mid and advanced Bird Watcher, with the guarantee that if we do not see the Quetzal, we will give you your money back. As simple as that.
7 night / 8 day itinerary -- US$1,126
Day 1: arrival to Costa Rica, check in at hotel Bougainvillea in the northeastern edge of the Central Valley. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, checking
on the birds at the impressive hotel garden. We gather at dinner for a 45 minute audiovisual introduction to the program.
Day 2: We meet for an early walk through the gardens of the hotel and then head towards breakfast. During breakfast, we will enjoy an audiovisual presentation
of the Birds of the Highland by Richard Garrigues, author of the Field Guide to the Birds of Costa Rica, (to be published in 2006).
We get on the road towards the legendary Monteverde region, where we check in our hotel.
In the afternoon we will walk easy trails and visit a Butterfly Garden.
Day 3: We spend morning and afternoon birding at the Cloud Forest reserve.
Day 4: After a dawn birding session we go for breakfast and then head towards the South Pacific Highlands, where we will spend the next three nights.
Birding along the route is simply marvelous. We will visit a wonderful Hummingbird research project.
After dinner we do a Highland owl search.
Day 5-6: Today is the beginning of our Quetzal Quest. We will visit known nesting sites and will view the Resplendent Quetzal in many different situations.

Day 7: We go out in the morning before breakfast for a last bird watch. After breakfast we pack and head towards our Central Valley hotel. Lunch along
the way and Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 8: depart to the airport.
Price per person in double occupancy: US$1,126 based on a 8-passenger group.
Single supplement is $237 and triple occupancy is also available.
Price includes all taxes, transportation, lodging, meals and activities mentioned, from arrival to departure. Full vegetarian menu available in every hotel we visit. PRICE DOES NOT INCLUDE airline travel to Costa
Rica or departure airport tax
A US$100 NON-refundable booking fee is required at the time of making the reservation. This fee is applied towards the final price of the tour.
If more than 8 passengers book your trip, your US$1,126 price will be reduced accordingly, down to US$972 per person when we book 16 passengers, our maximum number per trip. You must book the trip and pay the initial booking
fee in order to receive passenger counts and final price information.
