Our foundation program benefits four very well stablished programs that work for the environment, the street children of Costa Rica and our volunteer services. At the time of check out, the system will indicate to you how much money we
will donate from your purchase and you get to choose which foundation gets it.
We have now included our Boruca Reservation Volunteers Program as part of the choices for donations. This program sponsors young men and women who want to travel to Costa Rica and contribute to the betterment of the Boruca natives in the
South Pacific of Costa Rica.
Here is a brief description of what these 4 foundations do:
Down to Earth Volunteers Program: currently focuses on the Boruca reservation in the South Pacific of Costa Rica. Long forgotten by the Costa Rican government and other
local institutions, the people of the reservation need our help with education and health services while they produce beautiful, handcrafted ritual masks that command a good price in the tourist industry.
Our volunteers teach the Boruca English so the artisans can communicate with their clients and the pre-school-aged children assimilate the language at an early age.
In April 2006, we are bringing a Medical fact-finding mission from Maine/USA to the reservation, with the hope of setting up a permanent medical mission.
Home for Girls: works for the well being of teenage girls that are working the streets of Costa Rica. Their program provides counseling, education and a shelter for street
girls that want to leave prostitution.
Oratorio Don Bosco: a catholic organization that works for the well being of homeless or addicted children between 6 and 14. It runs a rehab center, a school and a choir
which has recorded a CD. It aims to rescue, educate and keep children out of trouble.
Rainforest Alliance: is a foundation dedicated to conservation through sustainable development . Its mission is to develop and promote economically sound initiatives
such as the Smart Wood certification and the ECO-OK program.
