Summer is definitely here, the temperature is very high and your coffee should be cooler. Here are a few recipes to prepare outstanding cold beverages using our Dota Select Down to Earth coffee. Feel free to contact
us at any time to comment or ask questions about these recipes.
Base coffee recipe:
You can always prepare a cool coffee beverage by letting your coffee sit in the fridge or adding ice. But for these recipes we recommend that you prepare the following base. It can be kept in the refrigerator for the rest of the summer (up
to 8 weeks).
If you don't want to bother making a base or keeping it around in your refrigerator, you can substitute it with prepared Espresso coffee.
Ingredients:
3 cups of Down to Earth ground coffee (you can use your favorite
roast but we recommend Dark).
9 cups of water.
3 cups of sugar.
Preparation:
*Carefully heat the 9 cups of water and take off the stove when
it is about the reach the boiling point.
*Add the 3 cups of sugar and the 3 cups of coffee to the hot
water.
*Stir every five minutes for 20 minutes.
*Empty the mix into a pitcher while
straining. Place a coffee maker paper filter in a strainer so it does not
break with the weight of the mix.
*To check if
the quantity of sugar in the mix suits your taste, try a mix of one teaspoon
of the mix and two teaspoons of water. Rework the balance of ingredients
if necessary.
Punta Mona Coffee & Figs Beverage
This unique drink is one of the two Signature beverages from the Down To Earth Coffee Shop and is inspired by Punta Mona (Female Monkey Point), a paradise-like, southernmost tip of land in Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast.
Ingredients:
2 oz of the cold coffee base.
2 oz of Figs, you can use the sugar-coated one or the natural version found at health food stores
1 cup of Milk
2 full scoops of Vanilla ice cream.
1 cup of Ice, can be already crushed
A sprinkle of Cinammon
Liquid Chocolate
We give you total freedom to experiment with ingredients that you think will improve this recipe or change it to your liking. One aspect that we would like that you keep as suggested is the ice cream: use a fairly neutral ice cream, like
Vanilla, so the presence of the Figs in the mix is strong, they go very well with coffee.
Preparation:
Use a blender at high speed to process the Figs to a mosh
Add the rest of the ingredients: milk, ice cream, coffee base and ice
Blend at high speed for a minute or until desired state
Decorate the inside wall of a tall glass by drawing a pattern with your wet finger and sprinkling the cinammon. Hold the glasss horizontally and turn it around until the cinammon is attached to the pattern you drew.
Empty the contents of the Blender slowly so the cinammon decoration remains intact.
Add a bit of liquid chocolate on top and serve with two straws.
